How to use the Mouse Test
- Move your cursor into the tester and press each mouse button, including the side buttons.
- Roll the scroll wheel up and down; each step is counted.
- Watch the double-click detector: any second press faster than the threshold is flagged as a possible switch fault.
How to find a double-click problem
A worn mouse switch "bounces", reporting two presses for one click. That shows up as two presses of the same button only a few milliseconds apart — far faster than a human can double-click on purpose. This tester times the gap between presses of each button and flags anything under the threshold (80 ms by default).
Click normally at a steady pace for 20–30 seconds. One or two flags during very fast clicking can be normal; repeated flags during slow single clicks mean the switch is failing.
Side buttons and the wheel
Back and forward buttons are buttons 4 and 5. Some browsers use them for navigation, so the tester blocks that while your cursor is inside it. If a side button never lights up, check your mouse software: it may be remapped to a keyboard shortcut.

Why doesn’t right click open a menu here?
The tester blocks the context menu inside the test area so right clicks can be counted.
Can a mouse double-click problem be fixed?
Sometimes: cleaning or replacing the switch helps, and some mice have a debounce setting in their software. If it is under warranty, a replacement is usually easiest.
Does this test measure DPI or polling rate?
Not yet. It tests buttons, scrolling and double-click faults, which is where most mouse problems show up.
