What is a normal reaction time?

Simple visual reaction times for adults usually fall between 200 and 300 milliseconds, with a typical result around 250–280 ms in a browser test. Under 220 ms is fast; under 180 ms is exceptional and often seen in young competitive gamers.

Your score also includes a little hardware delay: the display, the mouse and the browser each add a few milliseconds. A 60 Hz screen alone can add up to 16 ms, so a high-refresh monitor and a wired mouse will genuinely improve your result.

How to get a better score

Rest your finger on the button, look at the center of the panel and relax — tension slows you down. Sleep, caffeine, and warm-up all have measurable effects. Take the average of several sessions rather than chasing a single lucky click.

Frequently asked questions

Why does clicking too early restart the round?

The delay before green is random, between 1.5 and 4.5 seconds. Clicking before green is a guess, not a reaction, so that round is not scored.

Does my monitor affect reaction time?

Yes. A 60 Hz display shows a new frame every 16.7 ms, so the green can appear up to one frame late. 144 Hz and faster screens reduce that delay.

Is the average or the best score more meaningful?

The average. A single best can include a lucky anticipation; the average over five rounds reflects your real reflexes.

Can I use a keyboard instead of a mouse?

Yes, press Space or Enter. On phones, tap the panel.
